From Berlin with L❤️VE

Investment in travel is an investment in yourself.” ~ Matthew Karsten

As much as you can and as often as you can you should definitely travel. For me, travelling is not even about going to the most exotic place or even about spending loads of money. Sometimes right here in London at the weekend or during my vacations from school as a teacher, I would just hop on a bus or on a train and go to the next borough just for exploration purposes and to discover new things. I will highly recommend it. Whichever part of the world you find yourself in, start by exploring the locality where you live. You will be amazed that even though you live there and have probably done so for years, there's still so much you don't know about your vicinity which could be a major blessing to you and a great source of inspiration. Travelling can be as simple and as cost effective as you choose it to be. Just hop on a bus, a train or take a taxi ride and travel to the next town.  Better still you can simply walk around your neighbourhood. For me walking is therapeutic and can be refreshingly breathtaking just taking in the sights and sounds of your locality.

Travelling broadens your life's experiences. It gives you a perspective different from your own and let's you see the world through the eyes of your fellow pilgrims on this journey called life. That in itself is an education

The blessing about living in Europe is that for just a couple of pounds(if you book your ticket early enough you can get some really amazing bargains) and for short haul flights lasting under an hour, an amazing travel experience awaits you just beyond the shores of the United Kingdom.

Last year I spent quite a lot of time in Germany. It has fast become one of my favourite European cities to visit. I love their commitment to excellence in everything they do and the quality of their products. They also encourage their citizens to purchase locally produced goods and discourage imports as much as possible. It's no wonder why they have such a strong economy because their currency circulates within their own economy instead of going towards imported goods. That’s wisdom

I ended up in Berlin at the invitation of one of my very close friends who at the time lived in Cologne in Germany. So I travelled to Cologne first to visit her and then we took the train down to Berlin.

Apart from the sights and sounds of Berlin, the reason why Berlin will always hold a special place in my heart is because that is the place where God spoke to me about His vision for 'Angie Broks'. Right there on the streets of Berlin, I was just randomly walking with my friend on our way to lunch, when I felt a prompting to look down at the pavement I was walking on. That's when I saw the mark on the street which simply said "What are you waiting for...an invitation?"(the picture below which I took on my phone shows the precise moment when I saw the marking on the pavement; that's my feet in the picture). That was my wake up call to start ‘Angie Broks’ without delay. This marked the beginning of an amazing almost 12 month journey of putting the vision of ‘Angie Broks’ together.

A few days prior to this encounter on the streets of Berlin, my friend & I had been brainstorming on a few ideas but God used this very marking in the road to let me know that it was time to start.

Sometimes God has to get us out of our comfort zones and in this case a trip to Berlin is what He used to speak to me about starting this new journey in my life. That's the beauty of travel. It is the ability to pull away, to relax and to refresh and to be able to hear God a bit more clearly.

I love to travel because it allows you to experience the culture of a place and to take in the unique sights and sounds of the places that you visit. In addition, I make a conscious effort to ALWAYS come back with at least ONE life lesson that I can readily APPLY to my life.

In the next few posts, I will share some more life lessons that I was blessed to learn during my time in Berlin as well as in Cologne which is another German city that I love so much and holds so many special memories.

Until then, from my heart to yours...I sign off with L❤️VE from Berlin.
